Developing Competency Frameworks
‘Competency’ or ‘Competencies’ refer to the behaviors that employees must acquire and demonstrate to perform effectively at work. That is, the focus is on the behavioral outputs of individuals at work defining as it does the types of behaviours required for the successful performance of a role within an organization. A ‘Competency Framework’ design, in this respect, is a structure that defines each individual competency required to perform effectively in a given role (such as result-orientation, problem solving, effective communication, customer service, people management, problem solving).
